The Amish using horses are as rich as the average mechanization and chemical dependent farmer. The Amish are helping the environment and the health of the people who use their product. Some 10 years ago their used to be an Amish organic store in Laurel MD, which I used to buy meat and cheese from. Then they were told to move out and replaced by corporate junk stores.

For what you payed for that equipment you could have bought a good square baler with a motor on it. A much better way to handle hay.
Not necessarily. No need for fuel, oils, twine, etc. No motor exhaust - manure makes great fertilizer. Machine looks relatively straightforward - easy to maintain. Humans get exercise. Looks like a great system.
Maybe they inherited the equipment?.. looks pretty cool to me...
The advantage of loose hay is that it doesn't have to be quite as dry when put into the barn as baled hay, but of course there is more work involved. I have done it both ways, and there is a time for each.
They needed Molly and Prince. Molly and Prince pulled a semi up a slight hill in the ice and snow in Minnesota.

Haflingers are the most amazing, all purpose horses ever. The more I see them the more I admire them.
Those are Belgian horses.
They did not give it their all. those horses could have easily pulled that semi out. A little snow shovel effort to get them down to traction would help. I agree with Summit Aggregates, these don't act as though they've pulled together as a team.
